Chances in some colleges

Hey, I just started my 4th quarter of junior year and want to get an idea of if I am heading in the right direction on a few of these colleges I’d like to get into for Engineering.

After this year, I will have taken 5 APs, 2 IBs, and a few other Intensified classes (we don’t have an Honors program, so this is the code name, with no extra gpa).

My GPA will be around a 4.0 at the end of this year (weighted). My ACT is a 26, SAT is a 1270 (740M 530E), both after my first try with no prep. I plan to take both 2 more times, definitely with better scores (likely low 30s on ACT and possibly low-mid 1400 on SAT).

A couple of my safeties are JMU and OSU, which I am fairly confident that I can get into.

My reach is UVA. I know this is going to be a challenge with my low GPA, so I will have to get my scores up. Any other help to help me be more competitive to get in here would be great, since this is definitely my #1 choice.

A few other schools I would like to get into are VT, UMD, and University of Florida, which would also be nice to get into.

Other than trying to get great grades for my Junior year and preparing for good scores on my SAT and ACT, is there anything I should know before this summer, and my senior year that will help a lot? Thank you.

Hello, Your SAT’s and GPA doesn’t seem bad. I believe you can raise your scores.

Tips: Do extracurricular activities, get involved in the community and school. try to get some good recommendations and last but not the least do well on your essays.

Good Luck!
