I should have at least decent recs and essays. Applying to Liberal Arts or Social Sciences college at Rice ED.

Very nervous... Austin College and UT are my safeties. I think Plan II and Rice are reaches, right?

edit: At least a couple people get in to Rice each year from my school (public), don't know if that makes it "competitive" Avg SAT (old) is 1120.

I don't know what Plan II is, but Rice isn't a reach, you've got a shot.

I'll give you a 40% chance.

Can you go evaluate my chances on my thread? I'm a TX resident too.

I lke percentage chances if you can do that too.

Ah thanks! I also do a lot of Girl Scout stuff, so maybe I shouldn't worry too much... Plan II is an honors program at UT - you should look into it!

I may, thanks. The only thing is, I don't think UT is too reputable for science stuff. I'm sort of a math/science guy.

Austin College is one of my safeties too, the premed program rocks there.

And depending on how I perform on Wednesday, I may get a full ride.

Going for the full ride too, hopefully! My mom went to Austin College (dad too actually) and got into every med school she applied to. I'm thinking law school, but also love biology. Looking for your thread, I'll be sure to comment.

Well good luck, and you're definitely qualified for either of those colleges.

What are you majoring in?

I'm interested in history, psychology, and biology. I just can't decide! Neuroscience is appealing to me, but I'd rather go to law school than med school.

Those last two work for me, psychology and biology.

Here's my hierarchy for grad school.

I'll try for medical school, if I get rejected I'll apply to law school, and if I get rejected for that, it's business school, and if I get rejected for that I suck at life.

I'm hoping I'll decide between med and law school before I graduate. I can't imagine applying to both.

Any other opinions?

I'm trying for UT. I say you're in Rice easily. UT Plan II may be 50-50 for you.

Just got some new info today. My official transcript will say 30/955 for class rank and 3.85 for unweighted GPA. I've taken a total of 10 honors courses and 9 AP (including senior year).

You're in top 10% of your class, so by Texas law you're in Rice U. Don't worry.

uhhh, no. definitely not Kimiko. Rice is a private school.

"You're in top 10% of your class, so by Texas law you're in Rice U."

***?

I wish I was in automatically at Rice, hehe. (bump)

if u were out of state, u would be in at rice, in-state, it is up for grabs, it is the only good private school in the state.

Well, it's not the only good school in TX; there's plenty of good schools here, just not in Houston.

"there's plenty of good schools here, just not in Houston."

Aren't we forgetting UofH?? The football team has beaten rice like 5 times out of the last 6 years..thus they are quite competitive

Rice isn't the only good private in texas. Baylor's consitently ranke don the USNews list.

haha yeah....too bad Baylor's ridiculously expensive

but hey....with your grades you can probably get a full ride

If You wanna do med. they have a super good Grad. program
