<p>First of all........Well from what i read here it seems like everyone has above 700 on every part of SAT and on every subject test... Is that realistic when 750-800 is top 99% on the average?</p>
<p>I<code>m Bulgarian and I</code>ll be applying to Cornell as an international student. It<code>s my first, second, third and so on choice. :)
But somehow I think it</code>s pointless to apply there with my scores.
I took the old sat in December previous year and i had 1310 (570 verbal and 740 math) I<code>ll retake it this december but i don</code>t think i will score much higher on the CR since i cannot read so fast :/</p>
<p>I have also taken Math I and Math II and i had 770 and 680 respectively. I`m retaking the math II on saturday. Do I need to take more subject tests? ( I want to go for a major in mathematics)
My high school diploma is 5.97 (out of 6)
I have many extra-curriculars....
Drama club (acting), captain of the school soccer team, short-track speedskating, some field hockey. I`m currently studying on Hebrew and Arabic and i plan to be fluent in the second by the summer.I have worked during the summers....My recommendations will most probably be very good since I was well liked in school both by my teachers and my classmates.</p>

<p>And one more question: Does it matter what major is one applying for? Someone told me that women who want to study maths are more likely to get in with a scholarship than those who plan on studying literature (for example) since they are more rare!!!!!!!?????? (does it make any sense?)</p>
<p>i don't know much about your chances, but here are some things you might want to keep in mind: with that CR score you will need to take the TOEFL, and it will be quite tough to receive any financial aid....only 13 int'l got any aid last year. also, do you have any mathematics awards? if they are not so popular in bulgaria and you barely had the chance to participate in any form of competition, you might want to let them know because a math major without any math awards might be a bit uncommon for the states. And i read that women in math/sciences have an advantage over guys, but i don't know if cornell's the kind of school that plays with their applicants like the more business-oriented schools. one last thing; 680 in IIC transfers to a lower precentile than most other subject tests (don't know why), but that might influence their decision as well.</p>
<p>oh i got you! well i<code>m retaking the SATI and the IIC but i don</code>t think it will make any difference even if i score higher. Well I<code>ll try my chances and see what happens. i guess i will get in some other school sigh.... I thought to get in some uni and then try to transfer....
No I don</code>t have any awards.... unfortunately although i had good grades while i was in the high-school i was more concerned with taking cares of my appearance than of going to competitions. I`m sorry now :( <em>sigh</em>
And 13 people with <em>any</em> financial aid is ..... sounds very weird i thought they give more financial aid... from what i read on college board. anyway thanks :)</p>
<p>i know, 13 is very shocking.... i can only be okay-ish certain though, but from their letter it does seem to intentionally imply that aid for int'l will not be esy to get.</p>
<p>yeah but it very very weird since their collegeboard profile says :
* International students eligible for need-based aid
* Number of enrolled international undergraduates received aid: 226
* Total amount awarded : $5,500,000
well if you divide 226 by 4 u`ll get 56.5 , which in my opinion means that an average of 56 students receive fin aid every year....
Well in fact getting in and not receiving fin aid would make it equally impossible to attend as would not being accepted at all.</p>
<p>BTW i don<code>t know how hard it is to get fin aid but the 2 sons of the sister of a friend of my mother graduated from cornell and i don</code>t think they could afford to pay $40,000 . In fact very FEW people in Bulgaria can afford to pay even 1/2 of that and those people would probably never even think of going to college.</p>
