Chances into CSE

I got accepted in CSE last year and didn’t attend the U (It was my second choice school) and now I’m applying again as a transfer student. I’m applying as a transfer applicant this year
Associate’s degree with a 3.85 cumulative GPA (4.0 in Calc 1, 2, and 4. 2.7 in Calc 3, and 3.0 in calculus based physics)
32 ACT Score (34 E, 32 M, 27 R, 34 S)
117 transfer credits
Engineering extra curriculars like Eco Car
Will take basic engineering courses by the end of this year like statics, fluids, kinematics
Trying to get into aerospace or mechanical engineering

Hi @HuskiesFan5818 I remember you from the UMTC threads last year! Where did you end up and why the change, given that you’ve only been there a couple months (at most)?

Tranferring in to CSE much harder than direct admit, from what I’ve heard. Not sure if they are going to look at your ACT or EC’s from high school. For transfers the main thing would be college GPA from all your college coursework and, of course, those college courses. For the GPA, not sure how they count college coursework done as a dual-enrollment situation and that coursework also counted toward your first-time-freshman status. You’ll need to check with UMN on that. For coursework, keep in mind that some credits may not transfer and you might find that you need to spend more time to graduation than you anticipated.

There might also be a certain number of credits you must earn as a freshman student in order to be considered a transfer. Guessing that if you finish the year at your current institution you will meet that threshold. (Edit: This is assuming, of course, that your credits from dual-enrollment don’t already count).

Good luck to you!
