Chances? maybe?

Out-of-state, from a private college prep school
GPA: unweighted around 3.5 I think
SAT: 1900/2400
critical reading 620, math 580, writing 700
600+ volunteer hours (you dont wanna know)
Job experience: Worked after school at an elementary school, helping out & playing with kids who were picked up late. Nanny for two kids all summer. A small data processing job at my church.

What classes are you taking? (honors, AP, IB etc)? Because I think that will make the big difference. Being out of state is difficult. What is your weighted GPA? If it's a 3.8 or higher I think you should be good to go. You have great EC's and the whole private school helps a lot. Good luck!

Not sure of weighted GPA, senior schedule is Modern European History AP, Precal, Spanish III Honors, English IV, Physics, Environmental Science Honors. I'll be graduating with 6 language credits and 6 science credits, 4 History, Engish, and Math, and a bunch of electives. Did varsity crew for 2 years, on the sailing team now. I definately keep busy lol... Hope all the ECs help with the out-of-state thing, I've still got a bunch I didn't list.
2 AP, 3 Honors classes through high school.
Thanks :)

You have a great workload that JMU will like and yes your EC's will be a big addition. Did you write a personal statement? That can also become a big factor for OOS students. Also, your teacher/counselor recommendation will also play a significant role. I think you have a great shot. If you don't get in early admisson, I think you'll definitely get in regular.

Good Luck!

I didn't apply early, so I have to wait til April to hear back anyway :/ I did write a personal statement and I feel pretty good about it. I got a letter of rec from my English teacher, and my advisor says he always writes good ones. When I told him it was for JMU he got all excited cuz he went to UVA for grad school and had friends from JMU. He said he'd love to see me there and that he wrote me a strong letter.
And thank you again, this calms my nerves a little... I hate having to wait for so long! :(

Oh I think your definitely an in for regular decision. You sound like you have awesome recommendations! I know the wait is long, but it'll definitely be worth it if you get in :) Good Luck!
