Hi. I applied during the second week of September to the following schools:

University of Illinois - Champaign Urbana
University of Wisconsin - Madison
University of Iowa - Iowa City
Purdue University

I have been accepted to Purdue and am "guaranteed admission" based on my academic profile for Iowa. My #1 choice school is U of I, and #2 is Wisconsin and I have not heard back from them yet. I am hoping that perhaps freshman who go to these schools or others who have received their decision may be able to share their insight with me as to my chances of acceptance. Below is my academic profile:

GPA: 3.88 / 4.00
ACT: 26 - (Math 29, English 27, Reading 25, Science 23)
Course Rigor: Honors English 1 & 2, AP English 3, AP Calculus AB
Graduating Credits: 26

Hopefully this is enough information. As to my entrance essays, I spent a good amount of time for them and even had my AP English teacher proof read them twice before I sent it. Overall I feel my essays were strong.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Have you visited Purdue? I have already been accepted to Purdue as well but don't know its real strengths/weaknesses besides engineering. What made you apply?

Well they are a Big Ten school and I like the fact that they are a larger compared to other schools around. From what I hear, they have a pretty good program there overall so if I had to go to that school, it certainly wouldnt be a weak school to attend.

Yea I worked hard to get my GPA up but my only worry is that my ACT score is somewhat on the lower end of the spectrum. Thanks so far to those who have provided feedback, by the way.

Applying for what major? For example, at UIUC, if engineering, you are very weak with that ACT (middle 50% range is 30-32) but for LAS college you are somewhat better although still on the lower end of the middle 50% range. You also do not provide class rank and it is key factor at UIUC rather than GPA. At Wisconsin, you are also weak for engineering and better for LAS.

you are sooooo in at U of I don't even worry about it! My school sends like 50 kids there every year...and your academic profile is better than all of them.
