wait a minute RSI 2003, doesnt that means they applied for fall 2004.

Did you mean to say that about 5-6 Indians who went to RSI will be applying for admission this year??
Not to mention all the olympiad medalists :(

hey merc: I think its time to start prepping for AIEEE and JEE seriously :(

Well I don't think all of them will apply to mit, but then again it depends when people from India apply to college in general - at least I don't really know what the system's like there. International RSI participants '03 generally applied to enter Fall '04, OR Fall '05 as well. (The latter date for Singaporeans at least).

Anyway, the number of RSI internationals could have been different for RSI '04, because there was another RSI session held at Caltech as well. I'm not sure if they increased the no. of international participants overall, but at least for Singapore, they didn't.

Hope that helps?

Anyway, I think most applicants to MIT didn't will themselves to just take part in olympiads just 'cos they wanna a hook to enter MIT, but because they really had the interest to! I guess that's how budding researchers got into MIT without olympiads=)

But anyhow, I guess there's really no hard and fast rule to get in, sadly=(

Merc: which school os your 1st choice from the AIEEE list??

mit_hopefulgirl: Assuming to went to RSI, just wanted to know more about the program. About 100 smart ppl meet up at MIT/Caltech, they are assigned a mentor/prof whom they help out in their research and then present a paper in the end, highlighting what they did during the summer?? Just curious.

Anyways hopefully we all will get into MIT and then maybe we can team up for the 6.270 robotics competition during IAP :D
