Hey y'all... I've never done this so I'm gonna type out all of the numbers I can remember about myself.

I'm out of state (Maryland)
UGPA: 3.23 (rough freshman sophomore year, moving and home difficulties.) WGPA: 3.75
SAT: R: 750 M: 550 W: 720 (1300 total, 2020 total)
ACT: 29

Activities:
Instrumental Music Dept president
Current Events Club President
Gamer Symphony Orchestra club president
Music Honor Society
Marching Band and Symphonic Band percussion section leader/1st chair
Pit Orchestra principal percussionist
Poms Drumline captain
Private drum lessons
Technical theatre
SGA Events Coordinator/12th grade representative
Homecoming float head writer and director (I don't think that many other schools do this... it's a class competition where the diff. grades build sets and perform short sketches)

7 AP classes (Music Theory 3, US Gov 4, World History 4, Psychology 5, English Language and Composition 5, English Literature and Composition, Statistics)
Lord knows how many honors classes

Very strong recommendations
Very strong essay (Shows a lot of personality I think)
Other: Applied as English major, I have a lot of legacy but I don't think that's considered, I've visited, I come from a fairly academically rigorous high school

So what I'm wondering is if I could possibly get in with a scholarship... I need a lot of money to attend this school unfortunately, but I'm not so sure I'm going to get a lot if any. I have friends with better academic profiles who just received admit to the honors college and $12000 a year... which I doubt will be me but, anyway, thank you! :)

Oh, I also have something like 125 service hours! Forgot that.

Anything’s possible! Good Luck.

I hope so! Thank you! @Halcyon77

UMass uses the weighted gpa and your SAT’s are excellent. I think you will get into the honors college and get about 10K per year. Please let us know the outcome. Good luck

$10,000 would be great! Don’t know how much I want to be in the honors college… when I visited the tour guide made it seem like the honors college was all research. But I certainly wouldn’t turn my nose up at it! Thank you @bucky0926 I’ll be sure to comment when I find out the decision.

My daughter with (4.2/32) did not get invited to the honors college. They also did not give her any money, however, who knows, you might! Only they know right now…

Yup, I’ll know in less than a month! Thanks for your feedback, @redpoodles !

Plus UMass has an awesome marching band and if you were willing to join that might be an in…

The band and the percussion section especially is what initially attracted me to the school, actually! @bucky0926

I was accepted! $8,000 scholarship! @bucky0926 @redpoodles No honors college.

Congratulations! Don’t be bummed about the honors college you can always transfer in if your grades are good. I guess, as with all classes before this one, the stats for honors college and merit money are going up (probably in large part to the major jump that UMass got from US News and World Report and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade last year). Some sneeze at 8K per year but I think its wonderful. Good luck with your decision.

Aw, it’s alright! I don’t even want to be in the honors college so this is pretty good news all around for me! Thank you for all your feedback! @bucky0926
