Chances of admission to NYU Stern?

-Legacy (Dad went to NYU stern)

-Fist generation born in America. (Dad emigrated from Russia to study here)</p>

<p>GPA: UW is a 3.78 with 12 college level/AP/honors courses. W is a 4.4
- I attended a high school in marlboro until the middle of my junior year and then transferred to a Brooklyn high school after my parents divorced. First school does weighted while second one does not.</p>

<h2>Freshman year: </h2>

<p>3.78 unweighted (no AP or honors courses yet)</p>

<h2>Sophomore year challenging courses:</h2>

<p>AP Psychology (4 on the exam): A- in the class
Honors US History I: B
Honors English: A-
*Sophomore year was a struggle for me due to personal reasons associated with the divorce and custody battle. UW gpa around a 3.6 :(</p>

<h2>Junior year challenging courses : (Much better after I moved to live with my dad due to an abusive household in NJ)</h2>

<p>AP Physics B: A
AP Calculus AB: A+
Honors US History: A+
Honors American Literature: A+
Overall Junior year UW GPA: 4.0</p>

<p>Finance (yes my current high school actually offers a finance class)

Honors Shakespeare and Playwrights
College English (meets twice a week to prepare students for college level writing)

<h2>ACT/SAT (Not the best unfortunately)</h2>

<p>-27 (ACT) retaking soon, hoping for a 29 or 30
- 1940 SAT (590 CR and 640 Math)</p>

<h2>Activities/Interest demonstrations</h2>

<p>-Taught myself code and eventually how to create apps. Launched a game development company with a teenager from Sweden and expect to have first app published within the next two weeks.
-Kumon English and Math tutor for two years
-Photography club member freshman year. 3rd place award in club photo competition
-Jewish Community Center event organizer volunteer (40 hours)
-Piano Player of 11 years. I play at recitals at churches.
-Fencing
-Swimming </p>

<p>Stern is extremely competitive, so I’d recommend you shoot for 700+ on each section of the SAT / 30-31+ on each section of the ACT. </p>
