Chances of admission

I’m currently a junior. Is it possible that I get accepted?

-GPA: 95 (school only does weighted, I have gotten a handful of B+s in regular/AP courses and one B in honors)
-IB Diploma Candidate

  • Have not taken SAT, hope to get at least 1500 (I plan on taking US History and Math I SAT IIs)
  • School honors: English Honor Society, National Honor Society, Science Honor Society (History Honor Society Senior year)
  • Extra Curriculars: First LT in Civil Air Patrol USAF Auxiliary, currently hold local leadership position, done a lot as a cadet (too much to list), part of Model Congress in my school, CIT at camp for two summers, track and field (sprinter), 50+ hours of community service as of right now
  • Hobbies: Play guitar and piano, skiing, hiking
  • Work: Worked at summer camp one summer
  • Plans for summer: Possibly interning in some government office (haven’t found any good internships yet), Yale YYGS Program (if I get in), UPenn summer program, Cornell Summer College, USMA SLE, more activities at state and national level in Civil Air Patrol (I don’t plan to do every single one of these, depends on what overlaps, so assume I only do two or three)

Thank you to anyone who responds, and please be honest so I know what I need to work on. I am not sure whether it would be better to apply early or regular decision, since I plan on doing a lot more next year

Forgot to mention that I plan on majoring in Gov./Political Science, and I’m going to apply to CAS. Also plan on applying for ROTC scholarship, although it may not impact decision

@Woody1234567890 You won’t get many responses only being halfway through your junior year. If you would asked the same question this summer once your final grades are in maybe more support. Anyway, you seem to be on the right track to apply to Cornell or any other selective school, but you must finish the year strong and crush your SAT. You should also consider the ACT. I found it easier and took mine in April of my junior year. I scored a 34 without a lot of study and it was so nice to know that before my junior year was even over I knew I was done with testing forever. Your summers are important for boosting your profile and it looks like you have some good plans, but do try to get involved in a political office or campaign. And of Cornell is your first choice, you absolutely must go and visit. It’s impossible to declare a college if first choice if you’ve never even stepped on campus. With the track you’re on, have you considered the Air Force Academy or Naval Academy? And Virginia Tech and Texas A&M have an awesome ROTC from what I hear. Good luck.
