Any help is appreciated. I am very worried so please help me out if you have some idea about the Cockrell School of Engineering. Thanks

I say you're in, no need to be worried. My friend got in and his stats were worse then yours.

DP

They will look at your rank and say you're in!

i see an acceptance letter coming your way. you have an extremely high chance of being admitted.

What about me? I have higher SAT/ACT (2110/34 Comp), but lower class rank (top 6.5%).

Quantize: Yeah 34 is not nearly high enough for our school of engineering. Maybe bring that SAT up to 2200 and get above 5%, otherwise your going to be a LA .

Its harder than IVY to get in!

^ you shouldnt be an ass to people that you think are just posting their amazing stats to put other people down. grow up.

to quantize: I believe you have a great chance of getting into that school. I am applying there myself...but my stats are much lower than urs (1200/1830 SAT and im waiting for my ACT scores). Am I jealous that you have a better chance than I? No. In fact, I congratulate you for the effort that you have put in to your academics. Not all of will get in, but I am not going to put myself down because I TRIED. Hope all goes well.

They probably aren't bragging, but how could they honestly not know if they were getting in or not. It would take a solid one minute to look at the average SAT score, and know that they are way above it.

the reason I posted was because of the process cockrell uses for admission. They start with the top 1%, then 2%, then 3%.. onto 10%, until they fill up 75% of the major. The last 25% are actually reviewed and judged evenly. So really, I was wondering if any one in between 6-7% had been accepted yet.

I'm 7% and i applied about two weeks ago...ill let you know when i receive an answer

@nintin and quantize: I was Top 17% with a 1970 SAT (1330 CR+M) and I got accepted to the School of Engineering a few weeks ago...so I don't see why you guys shouldn't.

i got accepted! top 7% 1950 SAT...

makes me feel my ACT last Saturday was a waste...i think i did well too

Congratulations I Hope UT!!! Looks like you got what you hoped for. I'm really happy for you. Hook 'Em!

That is worth remembering. "I Hope UT" applied in early October and was accepted into Cockrell in late October for Fall 2009 admission with a 1950 and a 7%.

This Cockrell question (how high your class rank must be and what test scores are needed) comes up often.

congrats I Hope UT! Yes Midwest Mom, very good information right there.

i wanted to clear something up..

when my dad went to UT (1980s i think), he said couldn't get into engineering until his junior year. So now he thinks I'm not officially in yet cause i'll have to do two years of general courses or something...

was it different back then than it is today?

Yes... but what major did you get into? I'm surprised you didn't get into Engineering with a 19XX and top 10%. Try transferring at orientation, I am not sure why you didn't get in.

i did get in...

i got in on Wednesday... now for the honors program!
