Chances of Berkeley Transfer-2011

lol pinoiako, trying to sneak your chances in! but your grade trend is fabulous as well as your ECs. I think your personal statements will be the factor to make or break you, so hopefully you did really well on them. Overall, you are indeed a competitive applicant.

I hope as well, I feel that I did a great job on them because I had counselors, english majors/teachers look at it

roofles, pinoaiko. you are so angsty.

Can you guys chance me? The wait for Berkeley is KILLING me…

Coming from UCR- Applied to UCLA and BERKELEY
Major- Chemistry
GPA: 3.82
All minimum pre-req’s completed, and lower division requirements completed as well.
I wrote really good essays and have research under my belt.

Anyone familiar with the College of Chemistry and how much of a chance I have? Thanks.

You have a good shot Patrick bateman however, it may be a bit more diffificult with your situation coming from another UC. Because CCC students get priority when it comes to transferring. It is a toss up right now.

pinoiako- not trying to sound rude, but is there a reason that you have posted your stats so many times along with the comment “how does my upward trend look?” I literally know your story now because I have seen it on so many forums… there have been people commenting on the fact that you have posted it so many times. You have an awesome trend. You have awesome stats. Everything looks good. But you are making yourself worried sick it seems like by looking at this so many times. None of us on this forum can tell you what Berkeley is going to say to you. You will find out this month. (I have read at least 5 people who have said this to you too.) good luck though. I’m hoping for you!

@hopingforltr, its just transfer anxiety. Thank you though.

I know how you feel we are all really anxious. I just feel bad because it really seems to be worrying you. It may sound dumb, but you should really try and keep a positive attitude toward this. You have done all the work you can do. (and you have done it very well). You know you deserve to get into these schools, so just have some faith. Good luck :)

If pinoaiko put half as much energy into his application like in advertising his stats around asking the same questions all over again, he is a shoe-in for berkeley.

Bateman: Ask Paul Allen what he thinks when he returns from England. He does have a better business card, after all.

I known a buddy of mine who got into Berkeley with a 2.98 in mathematics. Life is extremely weird sometimes. The buddy of mine graduated 2 years before and was a sub-par kids with decent grades, but his mathematical and science skills was off the chart. He showed me his SAT physics and Math II test and they were both 800 and he said, the only reason why he got into Berkeley in his opinion was because he met on the mathematical chair people at berkeley who was a frequent judge at the California Engineering and Sciences competetion. My buddy ended up winning that competetion by solving some complex derivative to make the robot hit some angle which for some reason all the kids couldn’t do. Given he was in HS then the judge from Berkeley took his name and asked him to apply to the school given he would be, in his words “given preference”. My buddy ended up not applying dude to family problems, mom and dad getting divorced really bad family problems. So he decided to go a JC. Even at the JC he was struggling to work full time and go through the same **** he was going in HS, but still applied to berkeley with a 2.98 in mathematics. A he got in last year, and he was sent a letter believe it or not by that same chair dude who said in his letter that he vouched for to the admissions people. SO point being its really weird how someones life can change just by making a small impression on someone. Granted this is some special case, but there always a chance in everything. Sorry for the long post, and being off topics lol but freaks stats kinds reminded of my buddies and had to tell you guys this story.

Does your friend work as a janitor?

I know it’s unlikely that I am going to get in, but I applied just in case. I have a 3.36 GPA but I got into UCSD somehow. Do they look at what specific classes you have taken? I’m a psychology major and have taken anatomy, human biology, chemistry, etc. I have friends with higher GPAs that haven’t been admitted to any schools except UCSC. Do you think it could be due to what classes they took (like lots of communication classes, speech, counseling, etc.)?

makeshiftbrain-what college do you go to right now?

Ello ello. Just like everyone else on here, I was hoping to get a little bit of reassurance before THE letter comes, or perhaps the OTHER letter comes . I applied to the Berkeley Development Studies program with a 3.71, Honors courses, IGETC and all that jazz completed, and I volunteer in the ER at a local hospital. I’ve worked throughout my time at community college and I’ve gotten 4.0s every semester except the first.
Go!

Berkeley is a high, high, high reach for me.

3.73 Economics
IGETC done (by this spring)
Pre-reqs done (by this spring)
EC: Admin Assistant at NASA Ames
Essays: Probably around a 7/8 out of 10 on the amazing factor.

@isus39

Econ is a tough major especially at Berkeley. I think there’s a possibility you might get rejected but you could also get accepted. Can’t say much until you actually receive the decision.

@nero103

I couldn’t agree more. I swear I’ve read his application like thirty times already and I don’t see him helping anyone else out.

“I think there’s a possibility you might get rejected but you could also get accepted.”

lol

Well there’s a possibility you’ll respond to this post, but you could also not respond. See what a great fortune teller I am? There’s a probability of 1 that I’m right.

meta maxxin out

@goingmeta

lol Honesty, I think there’s no point in guessing if someone’s going to get accepted or not because we’re not the admissions officer. I meant to say there was probably a higher rate of rejection than acceptance with those stats. Didn’t want to totally crush someone’s dream especially when I’m not certain.
