My enrollment appointment was pretty bad so a lot of other students got to enroll way ahead of me.
anyways, i got a waitlisted slot for a Calculus 2 course. There were a total of 40 enrollment slots and the waitlist capacity is 50. i’m 8th on the waitlist.
im really worried since i have no plan B. i successfully enrolled in all my other classes and this time slot is the only one that fits for this class.
right now it’s the first week of november but classes don’t start until the end of january next year. from now on do i just hope for the best? have any of you got waitlisted and managed to still get in? also i may be asking for way too much now so sorry about that, but is it possible for a professor to expand the class size as long as there’s still seats in the room?
I would not count on 8 people dropping the class. You need to find a Plan B. Are there other sections of Calculus 2 you can take even if it means moving other things around?
A college schedule is like a jigsaw puzzle and you always need to have a couple of back-up plans.
Agreed that you need to find a plan B. Another option is to email the professor for the class. Sometimes they will allow students with good reason to enroll over capacity (at least they did when I was in undergrad). At any rate, it won’t hurt to at least ask the professor.
S is going through a similar problem. He is waitlisted for Microbiology and it is a trickle down. He is trying to complete vet school requirements in 3 years and this was a must to take next semester. Due to his scholarship he is not allowed to take any of the science requirements at another college and it isn’t offered over the summer. He went and talked to the professor immediately and she was not very helpful. The bad thing is that the catalog still doesn’t show the class closed (or restricted seats only) but when you try to enroll it says you can’t because all remaining seats are limited to Biology majors. So he has to wait and see if the Biology major freshmen (all that is left to register) fill up the slots. His Plan B costs us a lot of money. Grrrr (Why they only have one section with a big waiting list is beyond me!)
How about taking it at night? Does your college offer classes during the evening? I know so many students don’t find evening classes desirable but if it gets you in just take it then. 8 students dropping isn’t going to happen.
