Chances of getting into a school if my major is computer programming

Hello CC community. My name is Nahjee Watkins and I’m a senior in my last (or what hopes) 4 months of High school.
I want to go to school to learn coding so I can land a career in game design because I love working with computers. However, my GPA is kind of a low average (like 2.9). I also didn’t score that well on the ACT (like an 18). I guess im just trying to find out what my options are. I have enough credits to graduate, but will any school accept me?

That GPA is certainly low and the ACT is potentially problematic. Still, There are plenty of great Computer Science programs that are accessible, University of Arizona and Arizona State University both have CS programs that are ranked in the top 50 nationwide. I recommend these schools because they are rolling so there is still plenty of time.

Remember, Computer Science is a challenging major and a path to a game design career is challenging. Don’t just go in only to learn coding. You should go into it because you have a passion for technology and an interest in the mathematics that powers everyday life

thank you very much for answering my question. I really do love working with technology, and game design has always been something I wanted to do since i was 12. Someone else told that a strong math background was important. What kind of math specifically?
