Chances of getting into Berkeley?

I am currently a sophomore living in suburban Illinois(so out of state) of south asian decent

ACT score
Freshman year: 32
Sophomore year: 34
I plan on taking it again junior year and hopefully scoring a 35 or 36

GPA
Weighted 4.85(projected)
Unweighted 3.95(projected)

AP classes taken
AP world(freshman year) - 5
AP euro(sophomore year) - 5
AP comp sci A(sophomore year) - 5
AP calc A

Plan on taking
AP US
AP Lang
AP lit
AP psych
AP physics
AP calc BC
AP Spanish
AP statistics

In my sophomore year I got on B(+) as a result of chemistry. I’m not trying to be melodramatic but will this blemish on my otherwise clear record spoil my chances of gaining admission to Berkeley?

Can your parents afford full pay at Berkeley: about $60,000/year? There is no financial aid for OOS students at any of the UC’s.

Calculate your UC GPA after Junior year is completed: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
UCB will use the UW UC GPA, Weighted Capped UC GPA and Fully Weighted UC. Since you are OOS, only AP classes will be counted for the extra honors points and no AP classes taken Freshman year will be used for these honors points.

UC’s do not consider +/- grades, so your B+ will be a B. One B will not be a cause for rejection.

If you keep the good work, you will be a competitive applicant. Intended major?

As @TomSrOfBoston stated make sure your parents are aware of the OOS costs and are willing to pay $240k for you to attend. Run the net price calculator to confirm.

OMG seriously? So even if I have multiple siblings in college and a single parent working, there wouldn’t be any financial aid for me? Ok that’s not good

You would be eligible for Federal aid but the majority of aid such as Cal Grants, Blue and Gold Scholarship etc… is available only to California students.

No need based financial aid at the UC’s to OOS students. Period. You would get a federal loan or a Pell Grant if you qualify.
