chances of getting into Carnegie Mellon?

<p>i'm from MA, asian, senior in high school</p>

<p>GPA: 3.89 out of 4 (not sure if weighted or not)
Rank: 41/430
SAT - 710 M, 700 CR, 690 WR
SAT subject tests - 740 Math IIC, ? Physics (took it today)
AP Tests - 4 US History, ? Calc AB (taking it in spring)
Classes Taken - I've taken the highest level of math, history, and science offered every year. I'm taking AP Calc, AP Physics, Spanish 6 Honors, Statistics Honors this year. Basically, I've taken the hardest classes for the major subjects except English. No talent in art or music.</p>

<p>Honors:
High Honor Roll every term
National Honor Society
Spanish Honor Society</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
Sports - JV soccer 1 year, JV volleyball 2 years, in-town basketball 4 years
TV crew 1 year</p>

<p>Volunteer Work - I've got around 30 hours volunteering at church or with the library</p>

<p>Work Experience - Olympia Sports, started last month, 15-20 hrs a week, convenience store, 3 months, 15-20 hrs a week</p>

<p>And thats about it. I dont have a lot of extracurriculars (was never president of a club, etc.) My top schools are 1. Carnegie, 2. Villanova, 3. BC and my safety schools are UMass Amherst and Rutgers. What are my chances?</p>

<p>Wow. Ameherst is your back-up? I suggest changing that because it is one of the best LACs I know. Though I don't mean that you won't get in. Just saying that you may need to re-evaluate your choice; make the transition to a perhaps reach to match but not a safety.</p>

<p>Amherst takes a lot of kids from MA and their honors program requires IIRC a 3.5 GPA and 1200-1300 on the SAT math/CR, so I think I should be good for admittance</p>

<p>@ moviefreak126: You are confusing Amherst College, the LAC, with UMass Amherst, the flagship state university of Massachusetts.</p>

<p>^ Yea, its the same with Dartmouth College and the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth....both are completely different. One is a reach for everyone while another is a safety for nearly everyone.</p>
