Chances of Getting Into Engineering School?

Rutgers Engineering is my first choice and I sent in an application more than a month ago. Since I'm really anxious I wanted to know whether or not I had a good chance of getting into the engineering school. I know its a pretty high reach.

SAT: 1740
CR: 590
Math: 560
Writing: 590

gpa: 3.38

EC's: Varsity Fencing for 3 years, Varsity Ultimate Frisbee for 3 years, Research program at my school

Taking AP Physics this year (doing decently)

Thanks.

Your math SAT is low for an engineer. How are you currently doing in your math classes? Have you applied to other Rutgers schools?

I’m doing considerably better than I have in math any of my other years of high school. I’m currently taking Advanced Calculus. I have also applied to the School of Arts and Sciences as well as business

Engineering is full of math and physics. You might want to consider if you really want that kind of a course load for 4 years.

It is good you applied to SAS and RBS. I think you’ll get into both. Not sure about engineering only because of your math SAT.

Let us know how it turns out. Good luck!

im really hell-bent on engineering, i had some personal stuff which kept my grades low early in my high school career, but i know its something i want to commit to. Thanks a bunch for the feedback!

So you would say my 3.36 and 27 ACT (1850 sat) is good for RBS?

Arch yes it is doable.

I think you have a shot!!
I got into all three SEBS SAS SOE, including engineering!
instate student, SAT 1750 math 670, weighted gpa 3.82!

My daughter just was accepted into Engineering , her first choice and SOB We are out of state. Her math scores were ok…27 ACT and a 590 on SAT but her gpa is 4.0 (unweighted, which how I think they wanted it reported) with a lot of AP classes and truly outstanding EC’s.
