2.85 GPA, no SATS because I went to a boarding school in a different state. 21 years old, I’ve spent the past 2-3 years working in corporate/resturants. I have my esthetician license. I wrote a pretty good essay… What are the reasons why Rutgers would reject? Are my chances slim? Should I definitely be applying to other schools?
It’s hard to say since you aren’t a traditional freshman applicant. What is your major? Your GPA would be low for a traditional high school senior, especially without high SAT scores to balance it out. Major could play a part. I would apply to others to be safe.
Thank you for the reply… I graduated in 2014, the major I applied for was psychology/philosophy
Did you take the ACT?
A college would probably not accept if there wasn’t enough evidence to make them believe a student could to the work. Colleges don’t want kids to drop out.
So even if you are not required to submit test scores, anything that you could submit to convince an admission committee that you would be a successful student could help.
No acts… I went to a prestigious boarding school and had some certificate of my leadership performance there and took a few unique courses all with good grades. I applied to all three of the rutgers locations, so there may be a possibility. Also wrote a very honest essay in my application… I was looking to edit it actually, but I guess once you submit it you can no longer revise it?
Was your boarding school in the US?
Yes!
If your boarding school was known for being rigorous with tough grading, the 2.85 might be looked upon differently.
I know nothing about boarding schools but it seems strange that kids at a US boarding school would not be taking SATs or ACTs.
