Chances of getting into UC Santa Cruz with a 3.0 transfer GPA!!

Hello,

I applied to UC Santa Cruz, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine, and UC Davis for fall 2014! I have a 3.0 transfer gpa!
I'm latino (if this helps), first person in my family to go to college, and currently work as a Peer Mentor at my community college. Oh, and I applied as a Sociology major! Do you guys think I have a good shot at UCSC? It's been my dream school!

You are in luck - the TAG program is your ticket in and 3.0 is the current threshold. There are a few hoops you need to jump through but, the program works.

Good luck!

Unfortunately the OP is not in luck :frowning: To take part in the TAG program one needed to apply for it back in November. Since the OP is applying for this upcoming fall and evidently didn’t use TAG, it is too late for that approach. He is in the regular xfer pool for which the average GPA of admits is 3.31 so chances are probably on the lower rather than the higher side. But chances in the end don’t matter; its either a thick envelope or its not…

Whoops, didn’t catch that he’d already applied but- those would be the hoops (actually using the program) I was referring to. I agree, that drops OPs odds significantly. Its a shame, the UCs really promote TAG and it lays your whole transfer path out. I hope not using it doesn’t cost OP his seat.

I’m still trying to maintain some kind of hope lol After all, UCSC is concidered one of the lower-tiered campuses out of all the UC’s. Gaaaaaah!! I just want March 17th to come around already!!! I also applied to UCR. I’m still waiting for their reply as well. I already got into Cal State East Bay but I want to aim for a UC level education!

UPDATE: I got in!!! WOO!!!

Congrats

By chance did you get accepted to riverside? I have a 3.0 gpa and my major is also sociology at the moment
