What are my chances to get into UCLA/ UCSD/ UCI / Cal POLY SLO ? Any safeties in UC 's list ?
Should I mention major in my application or go with undecided and try for transfer ?

Please answer !!

Bump ! Some body please answer
More details : i am resident of Irvine, interested to get into UCI

Your SAT score and sat 2 scores are good. Your gpa is ok, about avg. UCI is a safety, and ucla and ucsd are low reach. As long as your app is overall strong, I think your chances are good.

UCLA/UCSD/SLO: High Match/Low Reach
UCI: Match

it would be a math for ucsd, and low match for irvine, with a high match /low reach for ucla, if you had a few more extra curriculurs

Chance me for ucla, ucb, ucsd?

SAT: 1950(M730 CR 620 W 600w 8 essay )(I’m taking this again because I wasn’t prepared )
ACT: 31(E:29 M: 35 R & S:30 w 10 essay )(retaking it bcuz It’s ■■■■■■ )
Subject tests(math 2:780 Chem: 760 us hist: 750)
UC gpa:4.6
UW GPA: 3.87
APs: spanish-4 eng lang -3 chemistry-3 physics B-3 calc ab-5 us hist-4 euro hist -3(I didn’t study. I now regret it)
Current APs: economics, government, calc BC, Biology, literature, statistics
Other senior classes: art structure
Current rank:12/652
ECs: varsity tennis (9-12), swimming (9), CSF, valley judo club(numerous medals in natl.level),gymnastics(Glendale YMCA (9-10),swimming(many medals/trophies)
Awards: AP scholar w distinction, most improved player and mvp for tennis (9&10)

Oh yea my intended major is probably engineering or math and stats

You need to create your own thread. Don’t piggy back another thread. It’s easy enough.

@DrGoogle‌
Sorry, that was selfish on my part.

Thank u all for your feedback ! Looking for some more.

Additional info : Honors society member, AP scholar , Few academic awards , acting president of chemistry , gaming clubs. etc

UCLA - reach
UCSD, UCI - match
If you can, try retaking the SAT.

Good luck!

I have to recalculate my UC GPA , just learned that one of the course listed as Honors in 2013 UC A-G course list now became non honors as per latest 2014 list. (:

My details are :

Intended Major: Computer Science and engineering

SAT score: 2190 (R: 670, M: 750 W: 770)
SAT Subject Tests - ( Math level 2 - 760 , Chemistry - 740)
UC GPA = 4.05
Un weighted GPA = 3.55

Took Several AP & Honors classes … AP Calculus, AP chemistry, AP united states history, Honors Physics… etc
High school scholars program at UCI ( College course at UCI about introduction to computers, received B+)
VB Programming ( College course , received A)
Volunteer at Book library and part time tutor

Honors society member, AP scholar , Few academic awards , acting president of chemistry , gaming clubs. etc

Is UCI still in match / safety for me ? How hard to get in Computer science and engineering compared to computer science major ? should I apply for some other UC’s ?

Please suggest.

I don’t think UCI is a safety, but I do think it’s a match. UCI’s computer science program is very strong, but I don’t know anything about engineering there.
UCLA is a reach. Sorry, but right now I think it’s a reach for almost everyone. UCSD is a sort of a reachy-match because of your major. I think you should apply to Santa Barbara. Their engineering is very good and they do like serious students. If you haven’t been up there to visit, do so. You might be surprised at how beautiful it is.

UCI is a match. You may get into UCSD as non Computer science. Probably not good chance for UCLA. I also think it’s good to add UCR and UCSB.

Is your UC GPA capped with only 8 semesters of honors/AP credit or is it full?

Otherwise you seem like a match for UCI and Cal poly Slo
UCSD is relatively hard to get into for engineering and UCLA has a more holistic approach apps nowadays. I say they’re both High match Low Reach.

Chance me please
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1688828-chance-for-ucs-privates-and-some-csus.html#latest

It is very unlikely that your capped UC GPA is 0.5 points higher than your unweighted GPA. Also, I do not understand why your unweighted GPA would change from 3.79 to 3.55.

If your unweighted GPA is 3.79, then UCD, UCI, and Cal Poly SLO are your matches. UCSD is a high match. UCLA is a reach.

If your unweighted GPA is only 3.55, then you are aiming too high because all the schools on your list are your reaches.

@chiraagdave

4.05 is my UC GPA capped with only 8 semesters of honors/AP credit .I am planning to add UCSB, Cal poly SLO to my list.

@ Mangiafuoco , My UC GPA ( A-G courses, capped with only 8 honors / AP course) is 4.05.
UC un weighted GPA is 3.55 ( Only A-G courses)
Un weighted GPA is 3.79

UC website states , they use UC GPA in freshman admissions , not the un weighted GPA.
Can some body confirm this ?

That’s true.

@krisuci2014‌
I have heard that all the UCs, except UCB and UCLA, use the capped UC GPA, but I do not know for sure. Cal Poly SLO does not use UC GPA.

I still do not understand how 8 weighted semesters are able to create a 0.5 point difference between your unweighted UC GPA and your capped UC GPA. That point difference seems too large to be possible. Did you use only 10th to 11th grades GPA in your calculations?
