Senior grades will not matter in your UC GPA so with all A’s this semester it should be around 3.6?? You have not SAT/ACT scores so it is difficult to chance you. You would need an SAT of 2000+ or ACT of 30+ to make up for the lower GPA.
As it stands:
UCR: Match
UCSC: High Match
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Low Reach/Reach
Post your scores when you get them and ask again for chances.

Without test scores and and a feel for you UC GPA - it is difficult to give you much of an answer. I will say. if the 3.4 is weighted GPA is going to make all the UCs but Merced a reach, no matter what your test scores are and senior schedule.

I’d suggest you broaden your horizons a bit and consider CSUs. They seem to be a better fit for your academic record. Do a little research, and perhaps a campus tour of Fullerton, Chico, Sonoma and Long Beach… I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Also, you may want to back off the APs next year - how about 2-3? 5 is a LOT and, frankly, they won’t do you much good - as far as getting into a UC. You are going to want to enjoy your senior year.

Good luck.

I would say these are all pretty good matches. You do have kind of a low GPA for a med-school hopeful, but having all of the EC’s, community service, and AP classes (if you make at least 4 on all of them) will help a lot.

Chance me back?

But why would my GPA be considered “too low”? I realize most of these campuses are competitive to get into but why is my GPA considered not good enough if a variety of applicants get in with the same stats?

@CJGuerro21: Here are the stats for last years Freshman 2013 for each of the UC’s you are interested in.
UCSB: GPA-4.01 ACT-28 SAT-1900
UCSD: GPA-4.11 ACT-29 SAT-2000
UCD: GPA-4.07 ACT-28 SAT-1900
UCI: GPA-4.03 ACT-28 SAT-1900
UCSC:GPA-3.84 ACT-26 SAT-1800
UCR: GPA-3.72 ACT-25 SAT-1700
These are the averages for last year and this year they could go higher. Your UC GPA is only 10-11 so if you have at 3.6 weighted at end of this year, you are below all these schools. If you get a higher than average ACT/SAT then it would compensate for the lower GPA. The posters are not saying you don’t have a chance at any, but you need to have some backups such as CSU’s or privates. My son whom applied this year, has a UC GPA of 3.72 and an ACT of 31. He has been accepted to UCR and 5 CSU’s. We will not hear from any of the other UC’s until March but I give him only a 50% chance or less for UCSB/UCD/UCI. If he gets in great, but he has 6 other schools to choose from. California admissions are very competitive and I am sure the posters want to make sure you understand the odds and make sure you can get into a school where you could be happy.
