<p>SAT scores: Math 610, Reading 510, Writing 510</p>
<p>Unweighted GPA: 3.38
Weighted GPA: 4.61</p>
<p>All honors and AP which include: AP English Lang, AP bio(5 in exam), and AP US History in Junior year. Senior year i have AP Chem, AP Stats, AP Physics, and AP Cal BC. </p>
<p>In a legal magnet program. I got straight A's in my first report card this senior year. I played JV football in sophomore year.</p>
<p>looking at last year’s freshman profile, only 13% of applicants who scored under 1600 on the SAT were accepted. while all of your other stats are excellent (except unweighted GPA, but if the weighted GPA is UF weighted, you must have a lot of academic courses which helps a lot), your SAT score suggests the odds are very stacked against you, being so close to that range. but like i said, other parts of your resume are excellent: 82% of students with a UF gpa > 4.0 get admitted. almost 80% of students who have taken more than 26 credits (i presume you’re in this category) get accepted.</p>
<p>i wouldn’t be sure what to expect really. i would make sure you GPA is calculated correctly, and then count the number of courses you get a better idea.</p>
<p>If you get accepted you will have a full ride since you will most likely get invited into UF’s FOS program. All you have to be is accepted to the University, First-generation, low-income, FAFSA EFC of 0.</p>
<p>I think you have a great shot considering your socioeconomic conditions. My SAT scores were similar but my ACT scores were higher than my SAT scores, when converted. I have FOS and I know people with lower stats that attend UF.</p>
<p>So, let me get this straight and please correct me if anything I say is wrong.
A kid with substandard grades ( by the way, you cannot go from a 3.38 to a weighed 4.61 ) and an SAT score of a 1630 should gain admissions into UF while an over-qualified applicant should be denied solely because the substandard applicant never had a family member in college before and he comes from a poor family ? In my opinion, a student with an SAT score of 1630 should not be granted admissions to one of the best public colleges in the country !</p>
<p>your comment on the GPA may be wrong, and your ridiculous impression on the importance of legacy status is wrong. generally, based on other comments i think you’ve made, you have a very unsophisticated basis for judging applicants. we are fortunate you’re not on the admissions committee, really.</p>
<p>Hey that’s what it says on the system. For weighted, they add the extra credit if you get A’s and B’s on honor and AP. The unweighted is just the letter grade without any “weight”, so if you get an A, it only has a value of 4, and depending if it’s honors or AP, it will be 5 and 6 respectively.</p>
<p>To clarify, a student must first be accepted to the University of Florida (just like every other student) before they can be invited into the FOS program.</p>
