Chances of getting into Umiami...

Hey I recently sent in all the required materials to Miami, besides the letter of recommendation. I go to a community college here in, New Jersey. My GPA is 3.1 and I have 15 completed college credits and 27 by the end of the Spring 06 semester. I plan to get my GPA up to a 3.2 or 3.3. I took the CLEP exam in spanish and i sent the scores to Miami, hopefully to recieve more credit. I did not do well on my SAT's, I'm trying to go over the 30 credits to not send them. I have no EC's. Do you think the CLEP scores will help? Do I have a good chance? I also applied to University of Maryland - College Park and Fordham University.

Hey, can anyone help me out, I really need some sort of an answer. Thanks, write back.

It will be kind of tough because the average transfer gpa is a 3.3 and if you are transferring as a sophomore the high school record and SAT scores play a factor which you said were not good.

Give it a shot though

Depends on what your major is. Id say you have a chance, albeit not a great one. Maybe 40/60.

BTW, what CC do you go to in Jersey?

Thanks for you help, do you think i have a better chance at University of Maryland - College Park and Fordham University or it's the same? They didn't ask for my H.S. Transcript, I called them today, but the wanted my SAT's and I did not do to well on that. So, i applied and i'll give it a shot, i'll be sure to inform you if i get in or not.

I Go to Bergen Community College in Paramus, New Jersey. You know where that is?

Yeah maryland and Fordham should both be a bit easier for you. I say you can get into Fordham and quite possibly Maryland but I wouldn't count on Miami

I know where Paramus is.

As long as you're not majoring in business, you have a decent shot at UMDCP and I don't think fordham is overly competitive.

May I ask what you got on your SAT's?

I'm really embarrassed to say what i got on my SAT's, but anyway i got a 940. I know it's terrible that's why i would rather not send them in. I think i acted to fast in transferring i should have waited until i finished the 30 credits. Miami require a letter of recommendation do you think if i send more than one it could boost it?
For the University of Maryland, i just applied as an undecided major. For Fordham i applied as an undecided as well. I haven’t herd anything back from Fordham.

If Miami is asking for one, I suggest you send them one.

well you'll have a full year of college done after this semester and that should help in the admissions process (assuming that the U, Maryland and Fordham will factor in what classes you're taking in the spring).
