What are my chances of getting into Madison and Uminn (Carlson)

Any shot? And also if I do, what is an unbiased comparison of the two? (Business school, college feel, dorms, campus etc.)

Thanks!
Tom

I believe Madison is a reach but you should try it!! Ive heard plenty of great stuff about UW Madison, so I would really consider this school

Is that GPA w or uw? If it is uw, your GPA is just slightly below average for admission for both schools. Your ACT is near average for both schools too. How is the break down of your ACT? It seems you are a high match for both depending on the break down of scores. May be low reach for Engineering or other popular programs.

At my school we are on a 5.0 scale. My career weighted GPA after 3 years is 4.56. I really don’t understand how to convert that so that’s all I can give you. However I plan on taking the act again and hopefully getting one more point. So you think I have a decent chance?

I believe the average (or median) admission uw GPA for these 2 schools are around 3.67 (in 4.0 scale). ACT 27 is around average and may be fine for in state admission. For oos and competitive majors, you should aim at 30+. I initially use data from Collegedata, then I found their numbers to be based on profiles at their site which is significantly higher that the reality for these 2 schools (GPA 3.74-3.77 and ACT 30-31 at 50% on CollegeData).

Just double checked. For UMN the average for admission is 3.57/28. For UWI, it is 3.63/29.
