Chances of Kinesiology Major at Cal Poly?

Hi! I am very interested in going to Cal Poly and it is definitely my first choice at the time, however I'm having trouble picking a major that would suite me best. Of all of them I found Kinesiology the best fit but I have heard that it is very hard to get into! What do you think my chances are in getting into this major?

I'm currently a junior and my GPA is 3.93
I've only taken the SAT once and got an 1810, but I am planning on taking it two more times
Math SAT: 630
English SAT: 580
Reading SAT: 600
I know that these scores need to be improved and I will definitely do that before I apply for any colleges.

Will you guys please let me know what my chances are for this major? I have also heard that you can apply for a major in the same department (Science and Math) and you can transfer into a different major if it is in the same college. Is this true?

Also, what are the chances of me getting into Biological Sciences?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

You may want to look at [Cal Poly’s career survey](http://www.careerservices.calpoly.edu/students/career_planning/gsr.htm). 2009-2010 Kinesiology graduates who got jobs had a median pay of only $25,000 per year. Biological Science graduates did better, but a median pay of $36,500 per year is not great.

I agree with poster #2. You should investigate what fields Kinesiology majors step into. My wife is a gym manager and trainer for many years. Her degree? English. She’s certified and knows much more than Kinesiology majors who apply for work. If the fitness field is something you’re looking into, know that the pay isn’t fabulous and many people do it that don’t have the degree. FYI
