so i already applied an dill be finding out in 2 weeks but i was just wondering what other people thought my chances were.

Female
Asian
SAT(taken only once): 2190 (700R, 790M, 700W)
ACT: 36 (single score. not commulative)
Unweighted GPA: 4.76
Weighted GPA: 4.98
Class Size: 1000 (public school)
Class rank: top 2%
SAT II's: Math II- 800, Biology M-780, US History- 720

EC: lots outside of school with church, volunteering and stuff. In school about 3 clubs. no sports tho :(. I do work 2 jobs currently and have held 4 in the last 1 1/2

Rec's: both should be good. I got copies of both letters. counselor one will likely be good as well.

Classes: taken the maximum of AP's and honors classes each year

Essays: I'm hoping theyre good but im not entirely sure. id say my essays are decent at least

so please if you could give me your honest opinions. I'm also applying to other schools like Harvard, MIT and such but im really hoping for this stanford one

Well, your EC's are too vague, kinda vague on the way the GPA is weighted (is it out of 5 or something). Holding some decent jobs is pretty good, ACT is really well, rank is good and btw, do you go to Berkeley High or something cause that's the only school I know of with that many kids. Stanford is a basic reach everyone and since we really don't know what your EC's are, it's even harder to say but stats wise, you're pretty solid cept for SAT, it's a little low.

EC are basically math team, debate team, art club for school
theyre pretty basic and i know that EC are my weakest areas

and yes the SAT is rather low, especially in comparison to my ACT
i wouldn'tve sent it except they send along with my SAT II's

and no i dont go to berkeley high. my schools just huge. it has 2 campuses and theyre thinking about adding on a third. our GPA system is really weird and they count it out of 4.0 but honors classes are considered a 5 so most people applying to the top schools have over 4's.

Well, they aren't necessarily weak. Have you won any awards, any significance colleges should know about? If you haven't, it won't hurt as much so long as you've shown complete dedication to your clubs, like if you going 2 hours every week to the math team meetings or spend this amount of time prepping for debate and etc...

They'll understand that you were too busy juggling your schedule and was unable to dedicate much time to your EC's. Universities like Stanford and Harvard will take such factors into admission whereas if you just quit and had nothing else to do, then they'd probably frown upon you. Quick question: Why work so many jobs? Not to get personal or anything but did you really need to work that much?

we were going through some family problems and money was tight so i needed to support more of my own expenses so i just got jobs and just stuck with them i guess

Now there's a statement Stanford and all the others will take into consideration. They'll know that since you had to drop all your EC's to help out with your financial situation, they'll understand that you were just trying to support the family and had no other time to do anything else.

Really special? Hardly... one just needs to be solid all around. With some really inspired essays, I can see the OP getting into Stanford going by the average stats of those accepted SCEA last year. And, I don't know about you, but a 36 on the ACT seems pretty special.

How would you rate your essays?

BTW, I'd recommend posting this on the Stanford forum as well. I'm mainly a lurker there but some of the regulars might have some more insight.
