Hello. I’m currently a freshman at UCR and was wondering what the likelihood of being able to switching majors from Agricultural and Environmental Education to Computer Science would be? Or if it would be recommended at all? Financial issues is definitely an issue and if I’ll be required to stay for an extra year or two then I’m not sure if it would be worth it transferring…At the moment, I’m 10k in debt and will be looking to be ~25k (10k first year, ~5k every year afterwards) in debt once I’m done with my computer science requirements at UCR if it helps to compare.

In terms of the required math/science courses, I’m up-to-date; however, as far as comp sci classes are concerned, I’ve only taken 2 intro classes (CS 10/12) which dealt solely with C++ and I have no other programming knowledge. In terms of difficulty, I think I’ll be fine if I’m up against a more competitive class if it means having a more prestigious name during interviews. I’m also looking towards grad school.

Correct me if I’m wrong in assuming anything since I’m sure I’m mistaken on some parts, and any help would be greatlyy appreciated. I feel like I missed some questions I had before finishing this post so I’ll add onto it if anything. Thank you.
