Hey, I was wondering what my chances of transferring into JMU or Virginia Tech are. I've completed one semester at Christopher Newport University and my gpa should be between a 3.2 and a 3.4. I took 15 credit hours my first semester and they all transfer. I am registered for 15 more that transfer my second semester. I am a history major as well. I talked to the office of registrar assistant at Virginia Tech and they told me that they were looking for a 3.0 GPA and anybody who is on track to complete their first year equivelancy of Virginia Tech education. I assume JMU's response would have been similar. Any help, advice, or predictions would be appreciated. Especially from those who have transfered to either JMU or Virginia Tech Thanks!

Come on guys… 14 views and no responses? Also, I ended with a 3.46 GPA this semester if that helps anybody

Come on guys…all I’m looking for are opinions

Hi - I’ve read a number of transfer posts and they all seem to say that if you’re transferring your freshman year, the school takes a hard look at your hs record, in addition to college stats. You seem to be on the line for acceptance – could go either way, but if you’re taking hard courses I think acceptance is in your favor, especially for Tech for a history major.

My D has been accepted to CNU and Mary Washington. Can you please tell me why you’re transferring out of CNU? (I am a bit concerned b/c I keep hearing about transfers out.) Thanks.

You seem to be on track, especially since you ended your semester with a high GPA.
