Chances of transferring to a university with a 1.7 high school GPA and no SAT scores?

I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I'm new to this site. The title says it all. Basically, I'm going into my 4th and final semester (hopefully) at my local community college, which actually has strong connections to the college I want to transfer to.

I want to go to the University of Pittsburgh, main campus. But, well, my background isn't so great. Let me just lay it out simply:

HS GPA: 1.7
SATS/ACT: never took them

HOWEVER..
CC GPA: 3.3
The School of Arts and Sciences, the school of Pitt that I wish to transfer to, has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5 for transfer students.

My transcript now at my community college is pretty much all A's and B's. I have one C, and one F, but I retook that class and got an A in it. I also have 2 W's but only because I realized I didn't need those classes for my major.

I plan on getting 3 letter of recommendations from my favorite professors at my community college. I joined only a few clubs, and was the treasurer of the Disney club if that means anything at all (LOL). I did some volunteer work but honestly, that's all I have going for me.

The only thing I have to show Pitt I can succeed is my CC transcript, and I just don't know if that's enough.

Does anyone think I'm a fool to even apply here?

Err, I’d be worried. You can still take the SAT’s even out of high school. A high school 1.7 GPA is hard to recover from. HOWEVER, your college GPA isn’t bad at all. If I were you, I’d try to explain that you’ve matured since high school, and that your college GPA and clubs involvement shows this. Buy an SAT review book (the official blue book) and get studying. You can do this!

Universities typically don’t look at your HS grades if you have a certain amount of credits. Your college GPA is decent. While I don’t know specifics of University of Pitts you’re on a good track. I would say apply to a couple other schools just in case but also make sure you visit the campuses if possible. A few of the schools I myself am thinking of transferring to didn’t jump on my radar until I made some visits.

Good luck on your transfer and I hope it all works out for you.
