Chances of transferring to NCSU Engineering?

I'm 31, recently recovered from a decade of drug and alcohol abuse...

In Summer 2009, I started attending Wake Tech Community College, I haven't taken any semesters off since then - this Summer I took Calc III and this semester I'm taking Physics, Diff Eq. and some literature and humanities classes. I took really heavy course loads, this is the reason why I'm completing an Associate of Science degree before a lot of people who started before me, problem is, at 3.157 my GPA is anything but spectacular.

I didn't turn in numerous labs in Calc I and Calc II so I only got C's in them even though I performed well in tests, I got a B for Cac III though. Initially I wanted to get a BSc. in Economics, but Engineering ( Civil and Industrial ) are both looking attractive to me at the moment.

So my GPA for my last two Calc courses is 2.5 - minimum requirements are posted here:
Admissions :: Criteria - Engineering

and here, for econ...

By the time I finish my degree I'll probably be 33 years old, so I hope this won't put me at a significant disadvantage. I was hoping you guys could share your thoughts about whether:

1) These grades are good enough to transfer to State?

2) In which area, Econ / Ind. Eng. / Civ. Eng , will age be less of a factor?

After trolling through these forums for the past day or two, I've started feeling a partial to engineering... Parents suggested Econ a while ago when I was still in High School, and I wanted to reward them for not giving up on me :)

FWIW, I just can't picture myself confined to a cubicle or desk job. I think my personality and skill-set is best suited to engineering.
