I am applying to transfer to NC State for computer science. I was wondering if any of you have had any experience or could give me some insight on my chances of getting into the computer science program with my current situation. My current gpa is a 3.5 with a fully transferable transcript.... the problem is that (as many of you know) you need certain prerequisites to be accepted into the college of engineering. I would have no problem getting in but the calculus situation at Charlotte is pretty annoying, I am not going to have calc 2, which is a requirement for the college of engineering, finished by the time the transfer application deadline comes around.

My question is, would I be able to transfer to another program (i.e business or some other) in the fall and then be able to apply for the college of engineering for the spring semester? Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you taken all the prerequisites to get into other colleges?

Yeah that’s not a big deal. I can get into 3 different colleges. Just not engineering yet.

You have to have Calc 1&2, Physics 1, Eng 101, Chem 1, and 30 hours no exceptions. If you aren’t taking Calc 2 now then you won’t have it completed in time for this year. I don’t think it is easy to transfer into State as a transfer student and then transfer into engineering later. You just have to ask, everybody is different. My kid took a couple classes as an NDS student to keep on track. She took Calc 3 on line in summer at State because her school was not offering it in fall when she needed it to stay on track. She was in the same place as you, she didn’t have physics yet so she waited another year to transfer and got rid of all of her GEP classes and got caught up on the rest.

Why are you transferring? (Im applying to UNCC)

I have also applied to UNCC and NC State as a transfer student for spring 2015. I think Charlotte and Raleigh would be excellent locations for internships and jobs.
