I currently go to Boise State University, and am trying to get closer to home. My permanent address is in Georgia, and I have already applied to UGA and it says I am being considered a resident for financial purposes.

I am an Applied Mathematics major at BSU, and would have a 3.06 transfer GPA if UGA accepts all of my credits. I have applied for Fall 2013. Anyone want to give me an honest opinion if I will get in? On their website, it says you need a 2.8 to be considered, but nothing is guaranteed. I was just wondering if I needed to start looking at other colleges in Georgia.

Applied math is a fairly rigorous major. Your GPA is low, but I think you will be ok. The thing about transfer admissions is they have two tiers. If you’re a sophomore you need a 3.2 minimum, if you have a junior you need a 2.8 minimum.

It wouldn’t hurt to apply to back-up schools. Georgia State would be a good pick. If you want to stay near the Athens-Clarke county area, then consider applying to University of North Georgia(formally North Georgia College & St University)

Your GPA is low. Transfer admissions is largely dependent on how many spots are available in that particular program and how competitive that program is. You do have a difficult major, but your GPA is quite low.
