Thanks, everyone!

Oops, left out Georgetown. Applying as Undecided Liberal Arts everywhere.

What's your class rank or where do you stand in class? Is yours an elite private school with many legacies to these schools and recruited athletes?

My school doesn't rank, but I'm sure I'm in the top 10%. Yes, it's an elite school with many legacies and some recruited atheletes.

Would love to hear people's opinions. Thanks!

Dartmouth is the only one I'd say I really doubt, Penn and Cornell are doable reaches with a strong app, the others look good.

Thanks! Even Duke?

Anyone else?

alright...here's my take at your chances...your year 2008/2009 application year is the hardest year...even slightly harder than my year, 2007/2008. i applied to duke and vandy (i'm listing the colleges we share in common) with a 750,740,750 (2240) and a 760 math lvl 2, 730 ush, and a 660 bio m.....i didn't have the most impressive extracurrics....however...i did what i did and worked hard...and got into duke and vandy...if i were you...i would work harder on maintaining/improving ur gpa to get it to a 3.9 uw...and get your sat into the 2250's...i see that you have a good extracurrics...your involved so...that should make up ur gpa/sat stuff...if ur sat doesn't improve a tad bit...i will rate your chances as the following

1) Duke = 30-50%
2) Dartmouth = 20-30%
3) Penn = 20-30%
4) Cornell = 60%
5) Berkeley= 95%
6) Vandy = 50-70%
7) U Mich = your in!
8) Colgate = your in!

Whoops I missed Duke. From what I saw, Duke was much easier than expected to get into this year and they even then went to waitlist. I think it's 50/50.

He's definitely in Vandy

it actually depends on what school you apply to inside duke...pratt acceptance rate is like getting into yale...

Thanks, everyone. How about Northwestern and Georgetown?

Hey, darkknight do you think the 2009/2010 application year will be even harder than 2008/2009?

no it won't 2008/2009 is the max point! so u get lucky!...not that getting into colleges like harvard and yale and duke is easy...

Yeah Vandy chances are much, much higher than previously reported, but as for "definitely in" I'm not so sure. As for Berkeley, I don't think it's a 95% chance. I would lean more towards 60-75%

It's not going to become less competitive to get into top schools anytime soon. Even as the numbers of US HS grads start to go down the number of qualified international candidates will continue to rise.

We should all stop pretending like we know your chances of getting into schools of this caliber. Strange things happen all the time in college admissions. I know a current Princeton student who got rejected at Kenyon.

^ Umm... isn't the point of a chances thread to allow others to make predictions about acceptance/rejection at universities? Strange things happen, yes, but the overall trend is rather obvious.

Yes that's the intended point of them. But really it is pointless. We are only guessing; there is no way we can give an accurate response. And sure, the overall trend is obvious for many schools, but not so much when you are considering the schools the OP is considering. Obviously these threads will always exist, but with top colleges like these, they are in my opinion a waste of time.

Although I will say in at U Mich and Berkeley, both of which are much more predictable (UCB because he's in state).
