I would really appreciate some opinions at my reach schools. I have several safties lined up but would love to get into a reach. I've been very invloved in music for 11 years and play piano and alto sax. I play alto sax in my school band and school jazz band. I also play classical piano for recitals and other funtions including fund raisers, etc. I have also participated in varisty tennis for 3 years. I volunteered at our local hospital last summer and was a jr. counselor for 2 summers at 4h camp. I also work 8 hours a week in accts. receivable. Here are my stats:
SAT verbal 530
SAT math 570
SAT writing 580
I've taken all ACP leval classes and have a weighted GPA of 3.0. Obvioulsy not the best GPA. Jazz band takes up alot of my time and my grades slipped a bit here and there. I have excellent letter so recommendation. I also recently experienced a terrible tragedy right before Christmas as my BF of almost 2 years died. This has really been a tough time and I did briefly mention it on my last application (BU). My piano teacher also mention it in her letter of recommendation to BU, she is also an alumni of BU. It wasn't mentioned on the other applications as they were sent out prior to the tragedy. Anyway my reaches are BU, NEU, Bentley and Stonehill. I applied to Bentley ED and have been deffered and NEU also deffered me. My brother is an almuni of NEU but that didn't seem to help my chances. I have serious doubts about both of those schools changing their minds so I'm waiting on BU and Stonehill. I have been accepted to Simmons and Uconn. I really want to move on and go to school in Boston but I'm not crazy about an all girls school (Simmons). Although I must admit I haven't even visited Simmons yet. I'm willing to give it a chance if it's my only hope. Uconn is just around the corner and I really would prefer a fresh start in a new city. Also I don't need finacial aid, if that matters or not. Thanks for your time.

I would say that the best bet would be Stonehill. I know of a few people who got in here with SATs in 1700's, but gpa was higher. Good luck!

Thanks! Anyone else?

UConn usually wants B+ (3.33) or better, even for in-state apps. OK chances at UConn. Their average SAT is about 1190-something, by the way.

I've already been accepted to Uconn but don't want to attend. It is right around the corner from my home. Does anyone think I have a shot at BU?
