Chances? plz and thank you

Hi everyone, I am very new to college confidential and I just wanted to see what my chances of getting into Rice are. I am also applying to the Rice/Baylor MD program and honestly, I am pretty doubtful about my chances of getting into Rice. Here are my stats:

GPA 4.1 (Weighted)
School doesn't release class rank due to high level of competition
Mostly A's and A-, 1 or 2 B+
Sat 1420, 740 M, 680 V
33 ACT
National Merit Commended Scholar
Taken AP Calc BC AP Chemistry (got a 5 on AP Test for Chemistry)
Senior Year Courses:
AP Bio
AP Stats
AP Literature
AP Government

On top of all of these courses, I am also working between 30 to 40 hours a week.
Varsity Track Team, competed in Ohio Central Competition and in Central District Competition

Internship Experience:
Direct Internship Experience with a Pulmonary Critical Care Specialist
6 weeks, 5 hours a day
Observed many procedures including Tracheotomies, Bronchoscopy, Central Venous Catheter placement, and much more.
I also directly assisted in the procedures that were listed above and also assisted in Arterial Line Placements.
Worked extensively with House Staff to help diagnose patients and went on rounds with my mentor daily with follow up patients.
I also received a recommendation letter from the Doctor I interned with.

Also have over 250+ hours of Volunteer Hours at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
Position: Volunteer Patient Advocate
Responsibilities include talking to patients to help comfort them and then also find any issues in their treatment. Then coordinate with either Floor Nurses or Nurse Manager to resolve the issues. Work on Trauma Floor

I am mostly proud of my high school experience; I have done the best I can. However, is it good enough to at least get admission to the college? and what about the Baylor Rice Program? Thank you all for taking the time to read this and letting me know. I appreciate your time.

Your internship and volunteer hours show lots of dedication. Your recommendation from the pulmonary critical care specialist sounds great! Perhaps another from whoever supervises your patient advocacy work could be helpful, too. You sound like a good candidate!

whats your UW GPA?

I am not sure I will have to check, but I believe it should probably be somewhere around 3.8 or 3.9, I would say closer to the 3.8 area because of the A- and B+ grades. and thank you again all of you for helping! I was also wondering how important is the supplemental essay and the test score? My essay is probably my finest work and many of the people that read it said they really were able to see my character and my ambition through my essay. Also I am Indian. (From Asia not Native American) I was born there as well. Just thought I should mention this wasn’t sure if it will make a difference or not.

Will they tell you whether you are top 5%, top 10% etc?

Shouldn’t matter. As an Indian, you are an ORM (Over Represented Minority), if anything.

haha thats what i figured. Does that mean my chances are slimmer since they will only pick certain people from my minority aswell?

Oh and I also found out today that I will be a valedictorian. i’ve already sent in my application, should I just call them and let them know?

That Rice/Baylor Medical program is highly selective. My son is a freshman this year at Rice and has a friend in that program. They only chose 14 freshman for that program last year out of a pool of 1800 applicants.

Well, that answers the rank question!

I would email Rice letting them know. It cannot hurt to pad your file a little.

@IBWarrior: I know its crazy! thats why I don’t think I’ll be able to get into the program. Rice is my dream school however so as long as I get in there I will still be extremely happy!
@antarius and everyone else, thank you for the help again!
