Chances, por favor...

Hey guys, so Junior Year is almost over, and it looks like it's time for a chances thread about where I'm at in terms of college admissions, and about potential schools... so, without further ado:

Indian Male, CA, Competitive Public (like #3-4 in CA)

ACADEMICS

SAT: 2310 (M:780 W:800 CR:730 E: 8 lol :))
SAT II: 770 MII, 730 USH, 710 Bio (I'm retaking the last two in...oh crap! 1 week!)

GPA: Eh...not so good here...3.7 ~ish UW.
Toughest courseload possible though... my junior schedule:

AP USH
AP Bio
Spanish 3
Honors Computer Science C++
AP Calculus AB
Honors Physics

APs: So far just AP Euro (5). But I took US, Bio, and Calc. AB this year...we'll see.

Academic Awards and such:

99th Percentile: among top 16,000 Juniors in the nation.

Captain of the La Ca

UCLA/Berkeley: match

As for the rest, you look to be in pretty good shape -- great ECs, awards/honors, etc. Try to show a passion/focus in it all, though.

oh shoot, i wrote the wrong GPA...my cumulative UW GPA is 3.65...yeah...my grades suck

bump...any suggestions as to what i can do to improve, any colleges i should look into, etc?

come on guys...any suggestions at all?

You have a great shot at all of them. you shouldnt be worrying. u are definately going to one of them.

With a 3.65 UW GPA...

Berkeley/UCLA: reach

Whoa, Kyle, big difference between definite match and a definite reach!

oh well...i know my GPA sucks...

know any other schools that have good BME programs? Not just you kyle, i mean anyone...

Yeah, the UCs, especially the top ones, stress GPA immensely. But I will add: you definitely have a chance, since your ECs/awards are pretty good and you attend a competitive public school (which could make up for a somewhat weak GPA). Don't give up hope. =) Also, your research and whatnot should give a definite leg-up at Stanford.

Isn't JHU supposed to have the best BME?

yeah, lol, that's another school that I forgot to write down on my list...

Also, I'm thinking of applying EA to Georgetown, Caltech, and MIT. What are some other schools that offer EA? (Not SCEA, mind you...)

UCLA-high match (gpa man...)
MIT-reach (i cant say high reach, mit is weird in their decisions)
Georgetown-idk.
Caltech-reach (but...u have a shot. a science patent dude? excellent.)
Stanford-reach (again, research+patent=you have a shot.)
Duke-high match
Columbia-reach
Dartmouth-high match
JHU-for BME? high reach.
Berkeley-high match (again, gpa...)

ok and, try college matchmaker at collegeboard to find BME schools.

and, suggestions (for BME):
Carnegie Mellon
Yale
Washington U in St louis
UPenn
Rice
Northwestern
U of Rochester
Boston U
UT Austin
...
etc.

thanks a lot sriharifez!
