This post was posted in the College Admissions subsection, but it started to almost turn into a chances thread, so I decided to bring it here:).

I have like 1 C (Stats AP) on my transcript, and overall I haven't done like a GREAT job, but mediocre (83 in Precal DH, 81 Physics AP), so nothing too spectacular. I have another bad grade in Spanish III Regs (84; Honors couldn't fit in my schedule). 82 in my Chemistry H class. I go to a medical magnet school in San Antonio, Texas.

My weighted GPA is like a 95 (dont know rank, probably ~35/190), 5 AP classes/5 taken (I didn't take the Comp Sci AP test, will take US History AP though there is no class offered). The odd thing is, I think I'll get a 5 on the Statistics AP exam, and a 4/5 on the Physics B AP exam.

I'm going to state for Junior Academy Science Fair, HOSA Spelling, and Alamo Regionals Science Fair, and probably/maybe UIL Spelling and Vocabulary (REALLY competitive).

I'm trying to break or get near a 2100. I'm Hispanic (if that means anything). I'm optimistic, and am hoping for around a 2100+ for combined SAT IIs.

I'm the president of my HOSA chapter, I'm in Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, SHS, etc.

Chances @:
Middlebury
Carleton
Stanford
Princeton
Duke
UT-Austin
U Minnesota-Twin Cities

Middlebury -nay
Carleton -definitely not
Stanford - hell no!
Princeton -are you kidding me???
Duke -come on, you know the answer...
UT-Austin - maybe
U Minnesota-Twin Cities -maybe

Don't listen to them. You are a shoein for UT Austin and UMinn, and you have excellent chances at Middlebury, Carleton, and even Duke. Being Hispanic definetely helps, and if you get 2100, you will definetely be in most of those.

Middlebury - big reach
Carleton - reach
Stanford - big reach
Princeton - big reach
Duke - big reach
UT-Austin - reach
U Minnesota-Twin Cities - safety

You need to be much more realistic about your college choices. There are tons of good schools between the extremely selective schools and the one moderately selective school you listed above. You need to add matches and more safeties to your list, or you're going to end up very disappointed next April.

I don't know. I mean I'm asking for yall's opinions, but it's hard to see past the fact that I'm in the range for their SAT scores, and I have like state-competitions.

Wes_cali, I dunno what you mean by "cos you're hispanic," but being hispanic definetely helps a person get into college, if you were implying the opposite.

LMAO, nice one, but i think he has okay chance, just get lucky :D

Middlebury is very selective. If I recall correctly, the school admits only about 23% of its applicants.

You're not in the top 10% of your class. 84% of the applicants Middlebury accepted were in the top 10% of their class.

If your SAT V exceeds 665 and your SAT M exceeds 650, then your SAT scores are above the median for Middlebury, and that does improve your chances. If that is the case, I'd say reach instead of big reach, but you still have the problem of class rank and the relatively low marks in precalc, chem, Spanish, and physics.

"You're not in the top 10% of your class. 84% of the applicants Middlebury accepted were in the top 10% of their class."

Right, but conversely, 16% was not in the top 10%. These 16% had other stats that made them stand out... the OP, for example, is hispanic, a minority group underrepresented in colleges.
