Test scores are good, GPA okay (might be your weak point). My D had a little lower SAT, but better GPA (good class rank). She made it to interviews in January, and eventually accepted into COD.

However, College of Design is a different animal. Alot hinges on your intangibles – design essay and portfolio that you submit with the application. Those parts of the admission criteria are not quantifiable, but carry alot of weight in my experience. They need to be good to make the cut to the interviews in late January. Then in the interviews, it’s time to put your best foot forward and articulate your design passion.

Hopefully you’ve gotten some coaching from teachers and/or other art college admissions dept’s and have developed a portfolio of your most creative and thoughtful works. My D was surprised in interviews that they only asked a few questions about her works. They seemed most interested in her thought processes, her essay, motivations, passions, and how she spent her free time.

Hope that helps. Nov.1 is application deadline. Good Luck!
