Well there are loads of people asking about chances. Lets list here what happened. If in your chances thread you were told that you are definitely in and you couldnt make it through, post it here. And those people also who were told they were not going to make it but finally were admitted, please post.

I got accepted into ucsd out of state and most people said I wouldn't.
I got waitlisted at emory and most people said waitlisted/accepted or waitlisted/rejected.

I was told no chance at Brown. or any ivy for that matter. I was told and i quote

" i am really sorry but I dont see you getting in anywhere, . CMU, Brown, are all far reaches. What can I say Rensselaer is a great school and you are definitely in there. "

got accepted Brown RD, and I am waiting for SCS results

Deferred and rejected from Brown ( it was expected because I wasn't "unique" enough)
Accepted at Tufts! (people said I wouldn't get in with a Verbal 600)
Vassar (Rejeection, even though the interviewer said I'd def get in because my GPA was higher than the average.)
Occidental (rejected! almost insulted as this was a backup)

I'm sorry, but all i want to say is that it is foolish of those who take these Chances threads seriously. All these threads show are your stats, which in the first place do not appear in the same way as they do in the application. Nor do they show you as the person you are, which to some extent is shown in college interviews. Furthermore, the views of CCers are pretty biased and I would not hesitate to say that some would love to discourage XYZ not to apply to a school where they themselves r applying to, because their own stats are better then XYZ's.
I say this in particular to International students, to some of whom the only guide for applications is the wierd world of the internet..

I think this is a great thread because it examines the CC culture itself. Those who are told "I can't see you getting in anywhere" need to know that it's not necessarily true.

Chances threads are completely useless because they do not matter. What matters is that envelope, thick or thin, that arrives in the spring.

Lol Janette I know how you feel. I got into Dartmouth Thursday (which was a huge reach for me) and then earlier today I got wait listed at Muhlenberg College... it was my backup school, I'm torn between being insulted and amused.
