I want to major in Criminology. Is it a good idea to declare my major?

What are some other schools with Criminology/Forensics that I should consider?

And what makes FSU like a really good school, environment-wise? (ie - people, places)

Thank You!

What happened to your Freshman year?

no pre-cal or calculus?

FSU has the best College of Criminology in Florida and is currently ranked #11 in the US.

What are your goals with this degree?

Does FSU take into account freshman year?
I'm asking because in CA, the University of California (UCs) system does factor your freshman year into your GPA.

And no I havn't taken Precalc or Calculus. I know this part looks bad on my transcript...my math just isn't very strong.

I'm looking to go into some government things, maybe FBI type job. At this point I'm not entirely clear on where I want to specify my job in.

Yes FSU will be looking at your freshmen, sophomore and junior year grades when you apply.

I would suggest you also consider studying, in addition to criminology, a subject like accounting and/or computer science. If not a double major then certainly a minor.

Foreign languages are also important.

Many current applicants to Series 1811 jobs (1811 = federal criminal investigator - this is the job series for FBI, USSS, DEA, ATF, IRS, etc special agents) bring graduate degrees and/or professional certifications like JDs, CPAs, MBAs when they apply.

PM me for more detail.

yea, you need a JD to apply to become an FBI agent.

^ You don't need a JD. A degree in chemistry could also work, as well as accounting or Russian.

Crap, i wrote "does" i mean that the UC system does NOT factor in freshman year.

FSU will look at your freshman grades. As long as there is improvement leading to well-founded credentials, you should be OK.
