I'm a transfer student from a California community college with a GPA of 3.4. I applied to the UW as a linguistics major. Even though my GPA isn't absolutely amazing, my extra curriculars include activities oriented towards my major, such as an English tutor and a student instructional leader for an ESL class. I also am secretary of a 2 year academic co-ed frat that does community service around the town. I work about 20 hours a week in retail and babysit part time all while taking a full time course load at school. I don't know if UW favors transfer students from Washington community colleges or not. I really don't know how good my chances are for this school since I'm from out of state. Does anybody have any input??!

A contributing factor to your acceptance is SAT/ACT score(s). If you did fairly well on those and have incredible essays I think you should be accepted :)

UW reserves a portion of their spots just for Washington community colleges.

And what portion would that be? Is it easier to get in as a transfer?

Don’t know the portion, it was on a general transfer information blurb. I don’t think it’s any different from UW saving seats/giving priority to Washington residents in general.
