I'd have to disagree. They had rather decent SAT scores with a 4.0 her first semester. Regardless of their 3.1 in H.S, I think she had a chance from the beginning. Either way, congratulations!

I'm a boy :P

I don't think NU is rolling...in terms of when you submit it. It's rolling in terms of decisions from your application deadline.

Again, to anyone who cares, accepted to Vandy.

Congrats! I'm too lazy to reread the thread though I remember the gist of it, but sorry if this was addressed before: will you be opting for nu if you get in there or favoring one of the others right now?

Makes me think I should have applied to WashU and Vanderbilt. I was going to apply to Vanderbilt, but I never got to visit. Also, I didn't think I'd go there over some other schools. Now I've gotten into two awesome public schools, but I'm worried because the one where I have a chance to study what I want (UNC-->KF) I am not guaranteed. Furthermore, I'm worried about the in state effect of people going home every weekend. sigh. Decisions decisions.

Kindofblue, when did you hear from Vandy? My D has been waiting, and the official line is that decisions come out 4/15.

I got my letter Saturday. I live in Memphis though so the letter probably went through the mail a lot faster than other places.

I decided to go ahead and enroll at WashU, because of a number of factors that could screw me over at NU (no financial aid for transfers, no guaranteed housing, extremely late registration). WashU gave me a very, very good financial aid package, and even though housing is not guaranteed, the nearby apartments are not very expensive compared to the price of the dorms (and especially to Chicago).

Yikes, so she MIGHT find out tomorrow. She is having it sent to her current school, and there is no mail delivery on weekends. I swear, it had better be a "yes!" She got in last year but went somewhere else. She has decided that Vandy is where she wants to be, so she's hoping they'll say yes again ... no real reason they shouldn't, but there are also no guarantees.

Congratulations on your acceptances. And good luck with the LONG wait for NU.

OOPS ... cross posted & just saw that it probably doesn't matter about NU one way or another (although we all like validation).

Yeah, I just made that post about Vandy to give people some frame of reference for who is getting in.

I hope your D gets in. I have a lot of friends who go there and absolutely love it.

Kindofblue, my son transferred in as a sophomore this past fall semester. It has been the best thing he ever did. His high school grades and freshman year college grades mimicked yours to a T. He's doing well and is so happy to be at WashU. He got a room in the dorms. He has met the greatest kids at that school. Go and have a great college experience!
