In-state or out-of-state?

out of state unfortunately :(

I couldn't peg a percentage or anything, but I think your SATs and especially GPA are much too low.

Oh, I see. Well, I was going to say, if you were in-state, you may have had a tiny shot at acceptance due to your ECs. Unfortunately, I don't think you will get in if you are out-of-state with just a 3.3; typically, the trend is a 4.0 for out-of-state.

If W&M is definitely the college for you, I would suggest transferring there after going to college for a few years with a strong GPA and leadership skills.

Good luck,

AS.

the lowest gpa ive seen out of state to get in, this was from the waitlist, was a 3.4 with a 1500 +/-

thanks you guys.

i appreciate it!

I gotta say... most people on here dont have much of a clue what theyre talking about. I just got in, out of state, 3.6 UW, 1450 SATs, honestly unimpressive ec's (def compared to yours), but i got in ED. I had good recommendations and a solid essay and i got in. I think WM looks at everyone individually as a whole not your gpa or your sats or your ec's but the whole thing. Dont freak out about what you hear on this board because all it really does is make you freak out more. I think you would get in and im three for three on what ive predicted with people i know so far

Nobody is suggesting that OP freak out about anything, but I don't think one can dispute that a 3.33 GPA and 1200 SATs out-of-state is an uphill battle. I say that as a W&M graduate.

A 3.3 is NOT going to get him admitted to William and Mary! Nobody, except for you of course, is "freaking out". He should definitely apply but be prepared to be rejected because of his low, very low for W&M GPA. He doesn't appear to have any "family connections" either.

um my SATs are 1200... they're 1300...

he? who's he?

are you talking about me? i'm a female.

and i have a 1310 SAT not a 1200 just for you people who didn't read carefully.

stuckinnj..........................in this particular post, I can't find anything which describes you as a female. That said, you are still gonna be stuck in NJ and not admitted to W&M with that GPA. Hope you prove us wrong, though. Good Luck!

Sorry, my mistake, but the SAT is not what's going to keep you out. The GPA is. There's always a chance, though, however small.

um thanks pedsox ?

i hope to prove you guys wrong...

i'm going to the guidance office tommorrow to check my real GPA. i was sorta guessing. idk.

and i will update.

Hmmmm....my stats are kind of similar to your's (1290 SATs, 3.9 UW GPA, etc). I applied ED and got deferred to RD; but I didn't get flat out rejected, so I guess that means that we've got as good a chance as anyone else. Good luck with all of your college applications!

Just out of curiosity, how did you like Carnegie Hall? My choir is performing there in the spring, and I'd love to hear about your experience there!

EC's aside, you need a 3.7/1430 or a 3.9+/1390 to be on the low edge of the accepted OOS pool. stuckinnj, James Madison would be a match. Have you looked into Mary Washington?

Mary Washington isn't a sure thing for her................her SAT's are fine and her EC's are good, actually. Because she is a SHE, she may have a harder time getting accepted out of state, to Mary Washington. Because Mary Washington is smaller, I think they are more selective. She only has 4 AP's. JMU will accept her maybe, and her music stuff will help because they are a really top music school in the state of VA, but it's more of a match/reach (Both Mary Wash and JMU) than a safety because of the GPA. William and Mary is a no way in my humble, freshman, inexperienced, opinion.

Hate to jack a thread, but how about

3.75/1380 (750/750/620 SATii) class pres., band soloist, eagle scout, biomed intership, and on the Virginia Student Advisory Committee to the Board of Education (class pres of the entire state if you will) <- is that a hook? thanks
