Hi all. So my GPA is a 3.8 weighted, and I don’t know my unweighted. I took the SAT twice. The first time I scored math: 520, reading: 670, and writing 720. The second time I scored math: 520, reading: 700, and writing 730. That puts me at a super scored 1950. I can’t seem to get that math score up!
So here is the question: do I stand a shot of getting into NYU’s GLS program with those stats? If not, should I retake the SAT or try for the ACT this time?
The 520 is going to be a problem. You need to shoot for a minimum of 600 or try for a stronger score on the ACT. While a 1950 sounds close to what you need, that score is bring supported by a strong writing component. Unfortunately the writing score is barely considered by NYU.
What you should look at us that your verbal and math is a 1220. You’d be in a much better position if you broke 1300.
I would certainly look into the ACT. My oldest d did much better on ACT math than on SAT math. Her highest math score was a 650, when she took the ACT a weekend later without additional prep, she scored a 35.
Good luck.
