So, I’m an upcoming senior in high school, and I have my heart set on NYU, but I’m not sure if I stand a chance yet. I took the SAT in June for the first time and scored a 1940 - 550 in math, 640 in critical reading, and 750 in writing. I’m going to be taking it again in the fall as a senior requirement at my school. I also took the ACT once back in April, but I’ll be retaking that since I did not answer many of the questions and I think that affected my score greatly. My unweighted GPA is a 3.5. As of now, what are my chances at NYU, and how much better will I have to do (especially on the SAT and ACT) to improve these chances?
What about your ECs? Essays? I knew a girl with way lower test scores but with good essays who got into NYU. Also what’s your weighted GPA? If you want a good shot I’d say you want at least 650 on each section on the SAT. ACT, a 28 should work, although higher is always better.
Can you afford NYU?
Your GPA is average. Definitely, take the SAT again. Your chances are better when you are on the top of average. I would say a 2140+ will help you. Strong EC’s and Essay will increase your chances.
Best of luck!
