I just got deferred from Tufts and I was nervous about my chances of getting into Emory :frowning:

I’m an American male outside of the US
GPA: 3.55 (I was injured in junior year and been sick since the latter half of senior year so far- dropped like bricks.
SAT: 1390
ACT: 28- Not gonna use this

IB Full diploma
SL: Math, Bio, and Business
HL: Eng Lang & Lit, Korean Lit, and Global Politics

Class rank: n/a- not given

Extracurriculars:

Internship at a university’s research division (2 years)
Service work at the same university’s hospital

MUN Leader at school club
1st and 2nd place at different MUN conferences. Also chaired Gone to 6 different conferences

FBLA

GIN Leader position

Translation work for Korean-Indonesian heritage society for 1.5 years

2 service trips to Cambodia and Thailand

Amnesty International - club at school organizer

Rugby 4 years: 2 years JV and 2 years Varsity

Pretty good essay talking about moving around as my current HS is my 10th school and how that has affected me.

Financial Aid: Probably- I haven’t turned in my app yet :confused: nervous T.T
Major: IR or Polysci
School type: small, competitive school
International applicant but US citizen - lived for 8 years-ish
Hooks: diverse background: lived in 5 different countries and went to 10 different schools before college

Strengths: Essays and LOR

The GPA will hurt you unless that’s indicative of tough grading at your high school. Will the high school counselor’s report give some context to your GPA either by noting your injury/illness or by noting the school’s tough grading and your high class ranking? That would help.

The SAT is probably below average to average.

What do you like about Tufts? On the surface and to my untrained eyes, Tufts is similar to Emory in many ways.

I’ve had the best run of high schools in terms of grading and just overall performance degradation perhaps?
I have legacy at Tufts but I equally like both schools but I feel like with Emory I might get a better chance… Fingers crossed thou…
