Chances?

Sorry, here's another chances thread... but this is (partially) what this forum is for right?;)

Going to be sophomore at UCSB

College GPA: 4.0
Current major: bio-psychology

High School GPA: 3.19 (really low i know, i was a complete slacker)
High School SAT: 750 math/750 verbal/760 writing
SAT2s: 700 englishlit/770 biology/790 math 2

schools that i'm considering for transfer: UCLA? U-Mich? i really don't know yet haha.. i'm not at all sure what my chances would be for most schools. I'm considering also applying to UCBerkeley and Rice, but I have heavy doubts about both - Rice is too prestigious, as for Berkeley, I'm neither a California resident (from out-of-state) nor a CC-er. So that could hurt. any suggestions/ratnig of chances/school suggestions welcome!

how are you OOS? If you stayed at UCSB for two years, wouldn't you be a resident?

In either case, you have decent chances for Cal even OOS. Almost guranteed if you are in fact, in state.

thank you for replying so quickly! and making me hopeful. haha. :p

the thing is i discovered i couldnt apply for cali residency because my parents live in taiwan and don't pay california taxes, and i'm not a taxpayer either. sometihng like that. that's why i'm still paying oos fees and am considered out of state.

bump bump bump.

That's an interesting situation. The same thing happened to me. I was going to a state school, but I wasn't considered in state, but when I applied as a transfer after two years at a different school in the same state, I was considered in state at the new school. But I imagine being considered in state for California is much harder. Anyway, you're still a strong candidate, wherever you choose to go.

really? what state was it?

yes... cuz apparently a lot of OOS people in california try to apply for cali residency so that they pay lower college tuition, but they don't pay taxes so UC system doesn't get benefits. :\ sighh.

North Carolina. It's also weird because my brother applied to the same school as a freshman that I did as a transfer, and they wouldn't consider him in state.

wow, you're lucky then. :D

anyway, BUMP. please help people?? :(
