Chances

I'm going to be a senior this fall, and I've started narrowing my schools that I'm going to apply to. Here's the list:

College of Wooster
Denison University
Grand Valley State University
Pepperdine University
Mount St. Mary's University (MD)
University of Dayton
Furman University
Elon University
Hobart and William Smith College

Here are my stats:

GPA: 2.871
ACT: 25
SAT: 560 on CR, 560 on M, 610 on W

4 year of lacrosse, I might be playing if I go to Wooster, Denison, or Mount St. Mary's, it depends on how much time I have to study with lacrosse.

3 years of IM basketball.

3 years of drumline/band.

Hopefully getting a job soon, I've been managing 3 different properties and landscaping them for my parents this summer.

I've done some volunteer work, not a ton.

My counselor told me I should send a letter to all the colleges I apply to explaining part of the reason my GPA is low, which is that I had really bad ADHD and anxiety disorder that weren't really diagnosed well until my sophomore, which really sucked. I don't know how much this will help, but my counselor seemed to think it was worth it to write the letter.

I know that all the schools except Mount St. Mary's are probably slight reaches, with Pepperdine as a big reach, but my mom works at Grand Valley, and I figure I can get in to at least one of the other schools listed. There are also more schools I'm interested in, just haven't visited yet. Thanks in advance for your help and opinions.

50% GVSU
pepperdine rejected

idk about the rest

Pepp is possible but it is a reach. Grand Valley sounds promising though...
You thought of Purdue or Indiana? more plausible than Pepp and both have pretty good reputations and rankings.

thanks for your opinions so far, please keep them coming.

acarta07- purdue and indiana might be a little too big for me. im looking mainly at schools that are under 10,000. grand valley is an exception because its close to home and my mom teaches there.

bump. lets get some more replies here.

bump again..........please reply somebody.

mom teaches there? You're In. They have enough spots to allow your gpa to slide.

yeah i figured that her teaching there would help me get in. anyone got anything on the other schools here, especially pepperdine? im also retaking the act in october, and i should hopefully get a 27 or 28. would that help my chances there? also, i have one question. i want to apply to pepperdine early action, but the earliest you can take the act is october 27. pepperdines early action ends on november 15. i dont remember how long it took for my scores to get to me the first time, but do you think ill get them by that date? or can i get them after that date and just update the school with my new score?

Furman-reach
Elon-reach
Your in the ACT range for Elon, but your gpa is low. Take either test again (which ever you find easier) and score higher to make up for the gpa

yeah like i said above im taking the act again, im shooting for a 27-28.
