Hey everybody,

I was wondering what you thought about my chances @ Rutgers - New Brunswick.

Male at public HS in CT
3.18 GPA
1760 SAT
top Half of class
Graduating in summer 08'

Taken about 4 honors classes, did well on the AP exam that I took (English Language) and have done a good amount of community service outside of school, but not too many things at my school. I think I can get pretty good recommendations and write a good essay as well. What do you guys think?

Thanks

you'll get in easily

do you really think so?

I also forgot to mention I have a really upward trend in my gpa: 2.6 freshman, 3.1 sophomore and 3.7 junior

if you really want to be sure, retake the SAT and do really well first semester of senior year.

anybody else have any ideas?

the other replies have been really helpful too, thanks.

I would (or will, rather) emphasize the importance of doing well first semester next year. Oh, and it probably won't hurt to submit your app as early as you can, though I wonder about the effectiveness of this common wisdom when applying to Rutgers. Sort of like blowing into the bottom of an old Nintendo cartridge. Or maybe not.

from what i know, submitting your app early only helps to a certain extent. if you have decent credentials they'll most likely be confident enough to accept you earlier on. though despite of rolling admissions, if they're iffy about it they'll hold off on your app and wait to get your complete 1st semester transcript to make a decision, and you won't find out til late winter.

either way, it really can't hurt you, so yeah, i'd submit the app as early as possible. and as these guys said, retaking the SAT and beasting 1st semester senior year will definitely lift your chances at the very least. they look for a strong initiative and your strive to improve your grades.

Lol, Pway campus is right up my street. Anyways you should be fine; but if you really really want to be a 100% sure, retake the SAT this Oct. Just keep your grades up and dont slack off your senior year.
