I had a bad freshman year, but I’ve gotten better.
I took An “Accelerated” class freshman year, took honors chemistry last year, and I’m taking AP Biology this year.
Worked as an umpire freshman year.
Volunteered to help coach my little sister’s softball team the summer after freshman year, and I logged 24 hours.
Taken private drum lessons and had a band for almost two years now.
Started the political science club at my school this year.
Played intramural basketball every year.
Worked from May 2008-October 2008 at a grocery store (15-20+ hours per week).
Connecticut resident.
37,000 EFC
University of Miami is my first choice, and I want to major in political science.
What are my chances to get in to University of Miami if I apply early action? How much financial aid/scholarships (if any) would I receive?

sorry that i wrote university of miami at the end. i copied and pasted a post from the university of miami forum.

I would say your EC’S are great, however your gpa is a little low.
Aim for 3.67 at least
besides that, your in.

is it possible to get into american with my gpa?

your GPA should be higher.

i know it should be higher, but would i have a chance to get in with the stats i have right now?

Maybe yes, maybe no. It’s really hard to say, but I would say no although you have a good SAT. If you could spring your gpa up to 3.60, I would say you are in.

If you apply ED (binding) to Umiami, you have a better chance…same with American…

I think you can get in, but try and get it higher.

My SAT superscored is now 1370/2030. What are my chances now?

Just boost your gpa a bit and make sure to stay active in leadership positions on campus.
